POSTPONED UNTIL 2014 - DATE TBD
Practitioners of Human Performance Technology (HPT) are known more for their focus on operational or “technical” performance improvement than for their contributions to leadership or management development. In part, this may be because leadership, management, and coaching are often considered on the “soft” side of learning and development, and not always viewed from a technical, performance improvement perspective. However, if we bring the essentials of classic HPT to bear on our understanding of leadership and management, we can better understand how to develop leaders, managers, and coaches while specifying more precisely their contributions to the enterprise.
This session provides an overview of Six Boxes® Performance Thinking, the HPT approach that the speaker has been creating and teaching for over 30 years. Combining an accomplishment-based definition of human performance (the Performance Chain) with a systemic model of behavior influence (the Six Boxes® Model), this approach allows us to analyze the performance of leaders, managers, and coaches and to help develop them, as well.
