Program:

Perhaps you’ve been astonished to receive an accurate “personalized recommendation” from an online retailer. Or maybe you’ve heard about how Fitbit has collected the biggest set of heart-rate data ever and medical researchers are now using this data. These kinds of uses of big data and analytics have arrived and it’s more important than ever that L&D and other performance improvement professionals understand what’s happening, why it’s important and what to do about it.

In this presentation, we use two case studies--one academic and one corporate in nature--to delve into some important concepts, principles, questions and precautions that L&D and performance improvement professionals should be paying attention to.

We’ll cover:

  • What are data science and analytics?
  • Why are these important?
  • How are these being used today in general and in L&D, education, and performance improvement projects?
  • Who are some thought leaders you should be paying attention to?

Presenters include principal consultants of Peregrine Performance Group, Russ Powell and Joe Halpin, and data-scientist and data-storyteller, Rahul Jakhmola, from University of Texas.
